The jury was unanimous: OMG Germany is the media agency of the year. Among other things, the group impressed with its growth and innovative offerings. The laudatory speech was given by Jürgen Maukner, Managing Director of Republic.
One could almost say that OMG, the media network of Omnicom Holding, is firmly in German hands. After all, Florian Adamski has been global CEO since 2021. But that’s not the reason why OMG Germany was named Media Agency of the Year at the German Media Awards. The laudatory speech was given by Jürgen Maukner, Managing Director of Republic.
Economically a success story
The jury members didn’t have to think twice. In the end, the vote for OMG Germany was unanimous. But why? The group, with individual brands such as OMD, PHD and Hearts & Science, has performed extremely well in recent years. This is also confirmed by the results of the specialist rankings.
In relation to the period 2019 to 2022, OMG gained around 526 million euros in billings – more than any other agency group. New customers include companies such as Bitburger, Storck, Mercedes, Unilever and Chanel. In the Recma quality rankings, the individual brand OMD has always been among the top 3 providers. In the meantime, it has caught up with Primus Mediacom, Germany’s largest media agency.
Great innovative strength
The jury also praised the innovative strength of the group. For example, OMG Germany played a leading role in the development of Team X, the integrated global Mercedes agency. Like few other providers, the agency group is committed to sustainability. OMG has set up a separate consulting agency for this purpose.
The decision to establish the position of Chief People & Culture Officer across the board is also progressive. The task has been taken over by Holger Thalheimer, CEO of the PHD agency for many years. Together with his team, he drives forward all topics related to talent, recruiting, employee development, further training, people management, corporate culture, employer branding and CSR.
OMD Germany was also awarded for the top prize in the Media Idea: Digital & Social Media category.
Media Idea Digital & Social Media – OMD Germany for McDonald’s Germany: “#KeepOnGaming, We Deliver”
McDonald’s on the road? Top! But at home? Meh. Especially the important target group of gamers often prefers other ordering services. Just advertising for Big Mac & Co. is not enough. So OMD and McDonald’s turned a Twitch game into a community experience. The more the viewers helped to master the digital burger challenges, the higher the coupons for the community! The coupons all went away in this way, 50 percent were redeemed directly, and McDelivery achieved a new customer share of over 50 percent with the Twitch Challenge.
Other companies involved: OMD Create and Twitch Brand Partnership Studio.
Jury statement: This is a perfect brand fit. The topic is very well accommodated, the approach is believable, there is a connection to real life. The case is innovative, to the point; And it works. This is shown by the excellent figures.
