Peaceful protests have been seen all over the world in support of the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Solidarity was shown on social media with #BlackoutTuesday going viral, creating a network-wide pause online.

 

From Apple to Amazon, tech companies have shared their perspectives on the tragic murder of George Floyd and broader stance on racism and police brutality. For those attending protests, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has shared helpful social posts including this infographic showing how activists can be prepared to protest safely.

  • TikTok keeps on inspiring ? Facebook’s experimental app division has found a new muse. Collab, the new app inspired by TikTok, promises a new approach to collaborative music-making.
  • Shop through a camera lens ? It’s so easy for Pinners to shop! When you open Lens camera search, it will list related suggestions and products to buy. Browsing has never been simpler.
  • Google Meet is on the rise ?‍?‍?‍? From Skype to Zoom, Google has not had it easy in the video call world. Google Meet, formally Google Hangouts Meet, is now free of charge for all to enjoy.
  • Instagram effects that bop ? Creators will be able to sync the effect with big hits from the Insta music library. Even Ellie Goulding got on board and launched her new hit with a funky effect.

  • Gaming on Stream jumped from an average of 16.7 million users from Q4 2019, to 22.5 million in March and April 2020.
  • It’s been 15 years since the famous American video-sharing platform, YouTube, was launched to the public in 2005.
  • TikTok has multiple app limits that many people don’t know about. For example, you can only Like up to 500 videos per day.
  • In the last six months, a quarter of 16-44-year-olds (27%) have been influenced to purchase a product or service by YouTube creators.
