Deric Wong

CEO, OMD Hong Kong

Deric is the CEO of OMD Hong Kong and has been with the group since 2008. Previously he was the Managing Partner, Strategy for OMD China and Omnicom Media Group Hong Kong.

His passion for media, creative and advertising helped to push the boundaries for the industry in both China and Hong Kong. Deric’s ambitious leadership style has groomed a solid team of passionate, resourceful and devoted professionals that is deeply determined to drive the agency further and create nothing but the best possible work for our clients.  
Equipped with the strongest strategical mindset Deric ensures that actionable insights and ground-breaking, industry-leading output will ensure OMD Hong Kong’s the top agency position.

Under Deric’s leadership, OMD and PHD have won 30 Agency of The Year Honours in China and Hong Kong and over 250 campaign awards including CANNES Lions, EFFIE and Festival of Media Global. He has served on jury panels including 2016 Asian Marketing Effectiveness & Strategy Awards, 2015 Spikes Asia Awards and 2014 CANNES Media Lions.
In 2012, Deric was awarded “Outstanding Marketing Professional” by Hong Kong Management Association/TVB Awards and was the winner of “Greater China Account Person of The Year” award held by Campaign Asia which also credited Deric as one of ‘40 under 40 Unsung Heroes’ who pushed the boundaries of advertising and media in 2013.

Gary Wong

General Manager

Strong leadership helps our teams work closer, look deeper and act faster. Gary has developed a culture at OMD Hong Kong that embraces the rapid growth of digital media, creating an integrated agency that is able to implement innovative ideas and solutions quicker.

Gary is a media veteran with over 20 years’ experience. He has worked in different roles from planning head, business development to the digital lead at major 4A’s agencies.

His wide experience across multiple local and international brands has provided the foundation for rapid growth and ensures agility and leadership in the ever changing media landscape.

Derek Yip

General Manager, Buying

Smarter agencies are built on a foundation of confidence and trust. At OMD HK, Derek leads a team of expert media buyers, who under his stewardship, have developed deeper relationships partners so we can offer our clients the very best of what’s out there. He is passionate about driving better value for his clients and has made OMD stronger by reacting quicker to market trends. This ensures the agency is able to offer bigger media clout for their clients and partners.

Derek began his career in the buying division of Ogilvy & Mather before joining Ammirati Puris Lintas where he had a leadership role in their new digital media planning & buying arm ‘APL Digital’. Derek was selected by the Hong Kong Productivity Council to participate in the ‘Internet Advertising Benchmarking Program’, which developed guidelines for optimal level media investments. In 2000 Derek joined the then named McCann Erickson Guangming and handled a number of flag ship accounts including - Cathay Pacific, Johnson and Johnson and Hang Seng Bank. When the agencies separated and the media arm became Universal McCann Hong Kong, Derek was brought in to lead and grow the buying team as Buying Director.

Derek’s 20+ years of experience and in depth knowledge of Hong Kong’s complex media landscape ensures that we can secure clients the maximum value from their investments.

Senior Business Director

Alice is a seasoned media planning and client investment director who currently leads a team of 9 direct reports as well as Omnicom Media Group’s strategic business units to provide OMD clients an integrated communications solution.

Alice’s experience spans across in-house marketing, media vendor and media agencies in the last 20 years. With past responsibilities including both regional and local communications planning for different categories of clients including her last stints as the Regional Brand Director for all LVMH brands and Planning Manager for Tiffany & co.

As a media veteran, Alice does not stop with time. She is the new breed of client business director who is both traditional and digital media savvy.

Equipped with solid understanding on the Hong Kong digital marketing landscape across display, video, programmatic, search, mobile, social media, e-commerce, data analytics & innovative technology, Koyi is currently the Digital Thought Leader at OMD HK who looks after the digital savvy team & is tasked to be a strategic data-driven digital marketing consultant to drive effective, advanced & integrated digital strategy among paid, owned, earned media for local & regional clients in nowadays face pace multi-screen but mobile-first changing world. Client portfolios range from various categories such as Wyeth Nutrition, McDonalds’, FedEx, HKUSPACE, Sony Mobile, Huawei, Tourism Australia, PepsiCo, E*TRADE, Warner Brothers, Neutrogena, Visa, Danone Water, Levi’s, MetLife, Carlsberg, HKT/PCCW and more.

Koyi has a proven record of achievement in driving the success of various digital projects winning over 150+ local & international digital awards. In 2014, Koyi was awarded as “Greater China Young Achiever of the Year” and “40 Under 40” from Campaign Asia-Pacific. With an aim of not only contributing to the commercial world, but also cultivating the next generation, Koyi is currently a part-time guest speaker & lecturer specialized in Digital Marketing at HKUSPACE, City University of Hong Kong and PolyU Speed.

Strategy Director

Anthony is one of the most award-winning strategists in HK as well as in the Omnicom Meda Group network globally. With his holistic skills set combining media and creative expertise, Anthony has taken key steps to spearhead integration and inject innovations into OMD HK’s offering. His work won over 120 local and international awards including AME Global, Festival of Media, Effie HK and Spikes Asia in just 2.5 years!

Individually he was awarded Young Achiever in Global Brand Excellence award 2015, Silver in Young Dragons of Asia, 2015 and Finalist in Strategic Planner of the Year, Campaign Asia 2015.

Senior Content Innovation Director

With 19 years of working experience & through-the-line exposure in digital start up, boutique and 4As agencies, Mark has succeeded in numerous pitches focused on increasing business for a wide array of clients such as HSBC, DBS, SingTel, StarHub, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, FIAT, JetStar Asia, Fonterra and Estée Lauder.

Equipped with media knowledge and understanding of China’s media landscape in addition to his creative capabilities, Mark is an invaluable asset of OMD, particularly in developing fully integrated campaigns with great insights and strategies.
 
Mark have recently transferred to OMD Hong Kong to support our CEO, Deric Wong’s vision in driving more innovation in content creation and making the OMD Hong Kong the most digital forward agency in the region.

Head of Resolution

A digital native and expert in performance media, including paid search, paid social, SEO, eCommerce and CRO, Staffan is responsible for leading the digital performance marketing team of OMD Hong Kong - Resolution Media. Working closely with digital stakeholders in OMD, he is tasked to ensure the digital performance strategy is aligned to deliver against the business objectives of our clients.
 
Staffan’s experience in digital performance media has seen him lead and drive award winning work on performance enterprise accounts across multiple verticals in Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong. Having been with the group since 2015, he joined OMD Hong Kong from Resolution Media Singapore in 2016.

With over twenty-five years in the marketing communications industry, Brett has extensive experience in the airline, travel, packaged goods, business-to-business, technology, beauty and luxury goods categories.

I studied Integrated Marketing Communications at university in Hong Kong. Prior to joining OMD I was working in two media agencies where I played a dual role of planning and buying and I strengthened my expertise to further develop my career in advertising industry.

After working in OMD for 6 years from buying where I have played a key part in my clients’ business success through providing award winning innovative media and communications solutions, I was given an opportunity to escalate my career progression from a senior media buying performance role to Associate Business Director and manage OMD client portfolio. Born in Hong Kong but raised in London, I have always wanted to return and live in the city of my birth. Not only on a personal front do I feel an innate desire to rediscover my heritage but professionally Asia represents a fascinating prospect. In some ways it is technologically more progressive, but in other ways it is behaviorally less advanced, or simply different. But it is that distinction that makes it all the more enticing.

NETWORK & OPPORTUNITY

With nearly 10 years of planning and strategy experience across a broad spectrum of categories from finance, technology, entertainment and most recently luxury, I wanted to start to specialise in digital, not only being the most innovative and dynamic area, but also the future of our industry. I also wanted to move to Hong Kong. Being part of a global network allowed me to realize both those dreams. JOURNEY
I have been passionate about promotion and advertising since I was a teenager. In my university life, I selected different internship opportunities in related fields and got a chance to study marketing in Germany for one year as an exchange student which broadened my horizons and strengthened my capabilities. I started my career in OMD straight after graduating from university.

OMD EXPERIENCE
I had been at OMD once as an intern of a media vendor and was so impressed with the staff who were so enthusiastic and energetic that it was a dream of mine to work here. Fortunately those dreams come true. OMD has been the first and only company I have worked in since my graduation. People think working in agency is hard work. To me, I don’t see it as hard work, but rather think about it as part of making myself into who I want to be.

INSPIRATION TACTICS
As a shopaholic, I am able to observe the consumer behavior and market trend which has helped enormously to serve Beauty, Fashion & 3C clients.
